Dear TPAA members

Please join us for the 2010 annual convention in Chiang Rai, Thailand from February 1-6, 2010.

The Le Meridien Resort is this year’s host to the 2010 TPAA annual convention. The resort is ranked among the top 5 star resorts in Thailand. It is located at the bank of the Mae Kok River that flows through central Chiang Rai, Thailand’s northernmost province. It is also fully equipped with many facilities that are catered for the convenience and comfort of their guests.

TPAA CME and Medical Mission :

This year CME will be a joint venture between Chiang Mai University, Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital and TPAA from February 1 to 2, 2010 at the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital. It will feature a wide variety of subjects that will benefit both our members and our colleagues in Thailand.

The Medical Mission, which is a tradition project of TPAA, will be modified to just departmental grand rounds, demonstration of techniques, and donation of requested medical equipm ents. We have decided to omit the routine “patient services” due to Thailand’s current litigation law.

Tours and Golf :

The intra-convention tours will feature many of Chiang Rai’s famous attractions, including Chiang Saen, the Golden Triangle, the Opium Museum and other nearby attractions. Tours will begin around 9 am after a delicious breakfast at the resort. The cost of the tour will include transportation, lunch and any admission fees. Please refer to the TPAA website at http://www.tpaa.us for more details.

For the avid golfers, we have chosen two renowned golf courses in Chiang Rai that are ranked among the very best in the country. The golf outing will be on the morning of February 4th and February 5th.

Evening Events :

On February 3, you can attend the Grand Lanna Night in Rai Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park. It is an event that you will not want to miss. You will experience the traditional northern Thai Lanna reception and tour the museum and park. You will also be entertained by the local Northern classical dancers dressed in beautiful traditional costumes while enjoying the “Kaad Mua” style dinner. The festivities will end with lighting the floating lantern.

The evening events for February 4 will be a pool- side barbeque and karaoke

The evening of February 5th will be Alumni night, where you can meet up with your colleague from Thailand or friends from the United States.

The 2010 annual convention will be concluded with a Grand Gala Dinner consisting of a delicious 10-course Chinese cuisine and entertainment by the famous local band and talent performances and dances that you will not want to miss.

We offer two post-convention tours for you to choose, China and Japan. Please refer to the TPAA website http://www.tpaa.us for details.

The 2010 convention committee hopes to see you in Chiang Rai for an unforgettable Thailand vacation.

Best Regards

Pisit Rangsithienchai, M.D.
